The Physical Space
History:
The space in which we call home, was once The Alicetown Community Centre. This was a thriving community house for over 20 years, however in early 2019 moved into liquidation and was closed.
Previously this community house was managed, and coordinated by Karyn Wick. A hugely talented individual of Alicetown, who contributed much joy and impact to this community.
As we move forward, Karyn remains apart of our volunteer committee; focused on seeing the centre continue to thrive.
Present:
We have taken over the space, and have now rebranded as The Transition Towns Community Centre. Starting fresh, but upholding a space for our many user groups to call home.
More than 15 user groups / 300 people come through our doors a fortnight. With groups ranging from Transition Towns, NA & AA, all the way through to the Toy Library. This space is a place for all to meet and socialise.
Every year where possible the Community Centre holds annual events such as The Children's Day in The Park, Eco Day, Civil Defence Day and Bin Day.
